Mike (MC Calc) and Doug (The Lazy D) are sophomores living the high life at Simpson College. Their show, MC Calc and The Lazy D, brings yet another element of comedy to KSTM every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. Doug is a member of Kappa Theta Psi majoring in history and philosophy, and also participates in the theater. He has held several lead roles in Theater Simpson productions. Mike is majoring in math and physics, participates in Humans vs. Zombies and is also a member of Kappa Theta Psi.
Katie and Ashtyn, best friends and sophomores at Simpson, love to have a great time and bring excitement and laughter wherever they go. Besides making people laugh, Ashtyn likes the color pink, Ke$sha and car dancing. Katie also likes to be goofy, but brings out her inner nerd by solving her Rubik’s Cube and watching Anderson Cooper. The duo host a show on KSTM every Friday called The AyKay47s, and always bring their crazy personalities with them.
Kendra is a freshman computer science and math major, and also has minors in English and Spanish. She hosts the DJ K Party Line on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights. Outside of being a DJ at KSTM, she participates in band, choir, theater, reads and writes. Her favorite bands are Skillet and Evanescence, but her musical tastes include pop, country, rock and classical. She’s always open to new kinds of music, so don’t be afraid to call in or tweet her suggestions.
Zach James is a junior multimedia journalism major and has been the sports director at KSTM since August 2011. He also hosts The Storm Sports Hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays with Alex McCarty. The main focus of the show is Simpson athletics, but also looks into high school, university and national sports. Zach is a sports fanatic, and when not working at KSTM he is a contributing writer for the Iowa Sports Connection.
Kyle Richard Hauswirth is the host of The Afternoon Drive with K-Hoz on KSTM. He is a legend—wait for it—dary freshman who is majoring in political science and marketing, and is very involved at Simpson. He is Freshman Class President, Vice President of The Simpson College Republicans and is a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
Jesse has been the station manager for 88.9 The Storm since March 2011. He is currently a junior is majoring multimedia journalism with a minor in music. When Jesse is not hosting his morning show, J-Stew In The Morning, he spends his time with his fellow brothers in Sigma Alpha Epsilon, watching the Green Bay Packers and Iowa Hawkeyes, and cooking. Jesse is also a working musician and plays with various bands across the Midwest.
